GMES&AFRICA | THE OSS PARTICIPATION IN THE "JOINT SERVICE WORKSHOP", SEPTEMBER 6-10, 2021, IN ZANZIBAR (TANZANIA)

Alerting stakeholders (decision-makers, end users, private & academic sectors) on the valuation of Earth Observation for a sustainable management of natural resources, the capitalization of the GMES&Africa project first phase experiences are currently the subject of a Joint Service Workshop convened by the African Union Commission (AUC) from September 6 to 10, 2021 in Zanzibar (Tanzania). 

This workshop aims in particular to strengthen the dialogue & networking of the project key players, while promoting better involvement of end users in the development & operationalization actions of the services developed by the consortia.

In this context, a delegation representing the North Africa Consortium of the project travelled to Zanzibar (Tanzania) to take part in the workshop. The delegation is made up of Mrs. Lamia Khemiri & Mrs. Houda Babah representing respectively CRTEAN (Tunisia) and the University Center for Mapping and Remote Sensing (Mauritania); and Mr. Akram Lel Kassih representing the Libyan Center of Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (Libya), Mr. Samy Abu Rajab from the Desert Research Center (Egypt), Mr. Mustapha Mimouni and Mr. Evence Zoungrana from the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS).

The OSS consortium introduced and explained its results, in particular with regard to infrastructure and data, products and services, capacity building as well as stakeholder awareness-raising & commitment.
