NB-ITTAS PROJECT: NATIONAL VALIDATION WORKSHOP OF THE CROSS-BORDER DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS - ADT OF BENIN, COTONOU, MARCH 24-25, 2021

Within the framework of the project "Improving IWRM, management and governance based on the knowledge of the Niger Basin and the Iullemeden-Taoudéni/Tanezrouft Aquifer System (ITTAS)" NB-ITTAS, the Sahara and Sahel Observatory in collaboration with the National Interministerial Committee of the project in Benin, organized on March 24 and 25, 2021, the workshop for the validation of the national ADT of the ITTAS aquifer system, Kandi Basin in Benin.

The workshop was organized in semi-presential, in the premises of INFOSEC of Cotonou, via the virtual platform zoom, under the coordination of the national focal point of the project, Professor Youssouf ABOU, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Water and Mines. The workshop was attended by the departmental structures of the water sector in Benin, the members of the National Interministerial Committee and the Scientific Committee of the project as well as the national consultants. 

The national validation workshop took place over two days: the first day was devoted to the restitution and validation of the thematic reports; the second day focused on the main document of the ADT for its validation and adoption. 

This workshop allowed the participants to analyze in depth the major transboundary environmental problems that threaten the water resources of the Kandi Basin Aquifer system.
