TRAINING WORKSHOPS ON THE USE OF EARTH OBSERVATION (EO) FOR SUSTAINABLE LAND AND WATER MANAGEMENT IN NORTH AFRICA

The African Regional Center for Space Remote Sensing and Space Technology in French Language (CRASTE-LF), in collaboration with the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS), is organizing in-person training workshops on Earth Observation (EO) use for sustainable land and water management in North Africa. The event will take place in Morocco from November 14 to 16, 2023.

The workshops are aligned with the objectives of the GMES&Africa project phase II and aim to introduce major technologies for the development of electronic services in natural resources smart management.

They are split into four sessions and cover crop mapping application, water technology with the use of satellites, drones and soil sensors, soil technology with satellite indices for fertilization management and finally, entrepreneurship 4.0 using EO in the natural resources’ management.

In addition, a hybrid training will be held and will target national mission managers, national and local levels end users and the North Africa Consortium.

This training aims to strengthen knowledge in the main technologies of digital agriculture, to explore machine learning/deep learning in EO and to understand the scientific, technical and socio-economic issues going hand-in-hand with this evolution.

At the end of the workshops, participants will receive a participation certification issued by CRASTE-LF.
