GMES & AFRICA PROJECT | TRAINING SESSION & CASE STUDIES, OSS - CNCT - CRDA MANOUBA, JUNE 23, 2021

Mr. Amjed HADJ TAIEB, Junior Remote Sensing Expert at the OSS & Cdt. Ahmed EZZINE, Deputy Director at CNCT & National Coordinator of the GMES & Africa Project, co-facilitated this morning a training session on the MISBAR & MISLAND platforms in the premises of CRDA Manouba. 

The training session which was opened --Mr Fethi JELASSI, Head of the Water & Rural Engineering Division at CRDA of Manouba was led -- Cdt. Ahmed EZZINE & gave the opportunity to introduce the participants to remote sensing (optical & radar), its role & importance (decision support tool), the electromagnetic spectrum, the physical basis of remote sensing, the reception/transmission of data, & (radiometric, spectral, spatial & temporal) resolutions.

Mr. Hédi HAMROUNI, Regional Commissioner for Agriculture, took the meeting to highlight the importance of remote sensing as a decision-making tool. He also expressed his hope to see it popularized in the near future, in particular for cereal production assessment. 

Mr. Mustapha MIMOUNI, Technical Coordinator of the GMES & Africa project & Head of the remote sensing/GIS unit at the OSS, introduced the MISBAR platform before giving way to Mr. Amjed HADJ TAIEB who described the GMES & Africa project area of action, the Earth Observation operational services & presented case studies & crop maps. 

The session was interactive & allowed all participants to exchange & ask questions.
