The #Egyptian Desert Research Center (DRC) and the OSS organized a training on the use of the #MISBAR platform for agricultural monitoring. Held online on the evening of June 3, 2024, this meeting brought together more than a hundred participants from various institutions of the Egyptian Ministries of Agriculture, Water and Environment. The opening of the workshop was given by Dr Samy Abo-Ragab, national coordinator of GMES in Egypt while the presentation of the activities and prospects of GMES&Africa in North Africa, was made by Mr. Evence Zoungrana, project regional coordinator. Led by Dr Samy Abo-Ragab and Mr Amjed Hadj Taieb, the MISBAR ownership session focused on practical aspects of using the platform services, as well as concepts linked to the EO valorisation for the agricultural monitoring and natural resources management. Furthermore, practical demonstrations were carried out in various agricultural contexts of Egypt, in particular on the monitoring of cropped areas in general and irrigated areas in particular and the monitoring of the crop growth. Participants were able to see the #MISBAR platform potential, including free access to various types of satellite imagery and related indices (including Copernicus Sentinel), accessibility to operational relay solutions for processing raw satellite data, even with low speed Internet, obtaining the required geospatial information on specific areas of interest. Ultimately, in just a few clicks, #MISBAR offers users the ability to visualize, analyse and access data and derived products.
