Closing of the gmes&africa national workshop in mauritania

The national workshop of the GMES&Africa project in Mauritania took end on September 19, 2023. It brought together stakeholders and end users, representatives of different Mauritanian institutions and made it possible to focus on the technological innovations that upgrade the agricultural landscape in North Africa, highlighting the importance of Earth Observation (EO) in addressing the seasonal agriculture and water management challenges.

Hackathon on crop mapping in north africa: cross fertilization between gmes&africa and digital earth africa, september 20 - 22, 2023

This hackathon is the outcome of a fruitful collaboration between GMES&Africa and Digital Earth Africa, with the CUCT support. A hundred students from different regions of Africa will compete under this event. They will have the possibility to use satellite imagery, Artificial Intelligence technologies and relevant in situ data, in order to come up with a consistent approach to detailed mapping of crop types.

A training workshop bringing together water resource managers is being held in Tunis from July 31 to August 4, 2023. It is organized by the OSS within the framework of the “Improving Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), knowledge-based management and governance of the Niger Basin and the Iullemeden-Taoudéni/Tanezrouft aquifer system | NB-ITTAS project” which covers Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria and Tchad.
