A training workshop was jointly organized by the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) and the National Centre for Mapping and Remote Sensing (CNCT) on February 20, 2024 at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries (MAWRF) of Tunisia. It brought together representatives of the Regional Agricultural Development Commissioners (CRDAs) from the 24 governorates of Tunisia as well as experts from the General Directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture and focused on the need to improve the ownership and use of the MISLAND, MISBAR and GUETCROP tools.

The Sahara and Sahel Observatory experts are organizing, from February 20 to 23, 2024, training sessions on the use of the MISLAND, MISBAR and GUETCROP tools for the benefit of the National Center for Mapping and Remote Sensing (CNCT) and its technical Officers. The CNCT, Coordinator of GMES&Africa in Tunisia, plays a key role in mobilizing and involving Tunisian stakeholders for the operationalization of the seasonal agriculture and land degradation monitoring services.

Profiles sought: Students, researchers, developers, experts and start-ups in computer sciences, natural resources management, GIS and remote sensing, etc.

These trainers are mainly experts in agronomy, geomatics and resource management. This hybrid-mode training focuses on promoting Earth Observation with the support of Artificial Intelligence in digital and precision agriculture and is taking place at the CRASTE-LF headquarters based in Rabat - Morocco.

The African Regional Center for Space Remote Sensing and Space Technology in French Language (CRASTE-LF), in collaboration with the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS), is organizing in-person training workshops on Earth Observation (EO) use for sustainable land and water management in North Africa. The event will take place in Morocco from November 14 to 16, 2023.

Accessing Earth Observation (EO) data at the level of African institutions, this was the subject of discussions during the second session of the GMES Continental Forum, held on October 28, 2023. Accessing this data in due course is all the more crucial for it is highly important in the development of derived products that decision-makers and users might need.

The second GMES&Africa Tunisia national workshop started today, Wednesday October 25, 2023, in Monastir, Tunisia with the aim of building national capacities through the services provided by GMES&Africa and capitalizing on the Earth Observation achievements of the project phase 1.

The GMES North Africa Consortium held its fourth regional meeting on October 9, 2023. The meeting was convened in hybrid mode and made it possible to review the achievements, discuss the guidelines for promoting the results obtained and agree on planned activities and prospects up to the end of 2023.

The GMES&Africa Libya national workshop which took place in Djerba on October 4-5, 2023, brought together end users of GMES services and various stakeholders in Libya involved in the second phase of the project to discuss tools, platforms and services for sustainable management of natural resources in Libya.

"Opportunities and challenges related to the use of Earth Observation (EO) for sustainable development" is the central theme around which members of the GMES North Africa Consortium are convening for their second regional workshop, from September 20 to 22, 2023, in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

Leaders and focal points of member institutions, including CUCT, CNCT, DRC, LCRSSS, CRTEAN, CRASTE-LF, NGO Tenmiya, and OSS, are attending this meeting.
